THE SIMPSONS’ SMITHERS TO (FINALLY) COME OUT

For years, it’s been obvious that The Simpsons character of Smithers has been hopelessly in love with his clueless boss Mr Burns.

According to reports, Waylon Smithers Jr. will finally reveal his feelings and come out to Mr Burns in the new season of the iconic animated sitcom.

“In Springfield now, most people know he’s gay, but obviously Burns doesn’t,” Executive Producer Al Jean told TVLine.

“We deal with that in two episodes… We actually do a lot with Smithers this year; he gets fed up with Burns not appreciating him and considers his options,” Jean explained further.

Despite numerous obvious indications that he has a crush on Mr Burns, the cruel businessman has remained oddly oblivious to the fact.

According to the Simpsons Wiki, Smithers is a “(not very well) closeted gay man,” as “most people in Springfield are aware he is gay.”

Smithers was once married to a woman, but it ended when she wanted to have sex with him. Another interesting fact is that Smithers has the largest collection of Malibu Stacy dolls in the world and is the president of the Malibu Stacy fan club.

Season 27 of the long-running show started the weekend in the US.
