AWW! STRAIGHT BEST FRIEND ASKS GAY STUDENT TO THE PROM

In a display of true friendship, a straight high school student has asked his gay friend to go to the prom with him.

Anthony Martinez from Las Vegas has often plannned the school’s dances and events but had never been asked to be someone’s date to any of them.

“Being gay, and knowing I’m too busy for guys, no gay guy would ask me to a dance, let alone prom. So like any teen I complained about it on Twitter,” he told the NewNowNext website.

Straight best friend Jacob Lescenski had planned to go to the prom alone because his date didn’t work out when he spotted the tweet. So he decided to make his pal’s day and instead asked him out to the special night.

Lescenski and some friends created a large banner which they placed in the school to catch Martinez’ eye.

“No one knew about it except for me, my friend Jamie, and Mia, who made the poster. It was a giant surprise to everyone, especially Anthony!” said Lescenski.

The banner read: “You’re hella gay, I’m hella str8, but you’re like my brother so be my d8!”

Not world-class poetry, but it did the trick and made the young man very happy.

“Guess who just got asked to prom by @JacobLescenskii,” tweeted an excited Martinez with a picture of the banner, which has since gone viral. Even Ellen DeGeneres retweeted it, commenting: “Cutest thing I’ve seen all day.”

Martinez said of his friend on social media: “He’s my best friend, and a real man given the fact that he has the guts to fulfil my gay student council dream of always helping out planning dances, and never getting asked. I couldn’t ask for a better person in my life. Thank you Jacob can’t wait for May 2nd.”
